Everything wrapped... apartment empty / Alles eingepackt...Wohnung gelehrt

Things are getting serious.... ;-) or more to say REAL! A bunch of workers showed up 0700 in the morning with gazillions of meters of bubble wrap, card board boxes and all different gear you can imagine (or not)!
They started to wrap all and everything in our flat and soon it looked like an exhibition of Christo! Wondering why we did
not invite people and asked for entry ;-) I could not imagine how much stuff a) we have and b) how much it is when it is
wrapped! Looked like quite some cubic meters. It took them more then one day to wrap everything and even a part of the
morning of the second day was dedicated to the wrapping exercise.



The second day was then the packing day. Another myriad of heavy workers showed up and started to schlep all the boxes and stuff into a 40 feet container! Unbelievable... they worked like
ants! One box after the other. They definitely earned my greatest respect. I'd have cracked after the first two boxes ;-)

Before the whole exercise started we had to block the parking slots in front of our flat. As the parking is private property we were not allowed to use the official police "no parking" signals.
Katja printed some tags and we fixed them with sticky tape and hoped that nobody was blocking the parking. 0700 next day....
A GREAT THANK YOU TO ALL NEIGHBORS!! No car on the parking! That was great as otherwise we 'd have had a minor issue when the truck with the HUUUGE thing called container arrived (is some 14 meters long...!). But everything went smooth :-)




Once everything was in the container we had to sign a big pile of papers and after having signed some twenty papers where they had listed all the stuff they loaded into the enormous thing standing outside, they left. I can tell you...and empty apartment looks odd... strange echo...helooooooooo?!
Anyway it was already late and we headed downtown to meet friends and had a great evening.

After a good sleep we got up early and had to go back to clean the apartment. Although we needed
to clean it only "Besenrein" ("cleand with the broom") means: you pay a sum when you move in and at the end you need
to clean "only" restrooms, kitchen and all floors "with the broom" (that's where the name comes from).
We gathered everything at my mom-in-law's place to clean our empty flat. I was very ambitious and thought it'd be a two hour
thing... OK upfront: we started in the morning and Katja was still there at 5 p.m. This is the moment to say a big THANK YOU
to N.H. (those who know her know the name... a bit of privacy is always good ;-). She jumped in and spontaneously offered her
help. Big hug! Thanks a lot!
Even though the three of us worked really hard it took us all day!! Next step will be to return the flat to the landlord.
Keep your fingers crossed and wish us good luck! Hopefully we will have no issues with that... Stay tuned to read how our
journey to Amman starts...!


Hmmm die Dinge kristallisieren sich und werden langsam aber sicher echt!! Ich glaube der "point of no return" wurde schon
lange erreicht wenn nicht überschitten ;-) Am Tag des Packens tauchten Leute auf und wollten tatsächlich ALLES in unserer
Wohnung einpacken!! Wenn ich alles sage, meine ich alles! Vom Löffel bis hin zur Kommode und zum Fuss unseres Sonnenschirms! (Der wird in Amman bedeutend mehr beansprucht werden als bis jetzt ;-) Also, die Packer kamen mit kilometerweise Packpapier mit und ohne Blasen und packten wirklich alles ein! Unglaublich mit welcher Ruhe und Professionalität sie alles einpackten.
Am nächsten Tag kam dann nochmals ein Heer von Arbeiterbienen mit dicken Muckis um das Ganze in den knapp 14 Meter langen Container zu schleppen! Wow, eindrücklich... ich wäre schon nach zwei Boxen eingebrochen... die schleppten aber den ganzen Tag endlos hin und her!
Höchsten Respekt!! Nach dem Packen in den Container musste ich noch knapp zwanzig verschiedene Formulare unterzeichnen (musste bestätigen was und dass sie alles eingepackt hatten (?!).
Hoffe es kommt dann auch so in Aqaba an ;-)
Der nächste Tag war dann der Reinigung vorbehalten. Obwohl unser Mitvertrag auf "Besenrein" lautet, heisst man muss nur Klo
und Küche reinigen, haben Katja und ich haben den ganzen Tag geschruppt (kam mir wenigstens so vor! An dieser Stelle möchten wir einen ganz besonderen Dank an N.H. aussprechen, welche freiwillig eingesprungen ist und uns bei der Putzaktion geholfen hat!
(GANZ HERZLICHEN DANK!!! GROSSARTIGE HILFE :-)) Trotz der Hilfe waren sie bis um 1700 Uhr dran am putzen! Als nächstes wird dann die Abgabe der Wohnung dran sein...Man weiss nie wie es ausgeht!
