It is an eternity I did not blog anymore... Lots of stuff happened in the meantime and I traveled to many countries. Since last fall I travelled to Spain, Switzerland, Singapore, China, Doha, Riyadh and some other interesting destinations. It is always nice and I try hard to see at least a bit of the city but it is not always easy and sometimes I end up seeing the airport, the hotel and the office. Seriously, the guy in the lounge in Amman already knows me...

In Jordan we really started to "feel home" to the extend you can being an expat. We find our way around, know how to behave, what to do and where to find what. Of course we don't stop learning new things and finding out things on and on but a lot of things are already routine. Some things are easier now than when we arrived and other are still very challanging and will never change (traffic!!!).

This winter is colder than the last one and we try to have a decent temperature in our apartment which is not always easy as the ceilings are extremely high and the insulation non-existing. Fuel is rather expensive and everything is heated with petrol. So on a regular basis we have to call a guy who drops by and fills up our tanks in the basement.

Also this year we are having some extensive periods of fog and gray sky. Extensive is of course in the eye of the beholder as we are talking of some two days in a row but this is extraordinary for us living in Jordan ;-)

On January 1st I got a call from the Swiss Radio Broadcast asking me if I wanted to give an interview and tell people how it was living in Jordan. It was real fun. It is in Swiss German so most of you will not undersand but it was real fun for me. We had the interview in the late afternoon over the phone and he recorded it directly but it was then broadcastet around midnight. The host was so kind and sent me the mp3 file :-) If you want it let me know, I'll send it to you!

I am now in the airplane flying back to Amman after a stay in Switzerland which was (what a surprise) for business. Next week I am off to Saudi again. Saudi is nicely warm now ;-) In Jordan we have low temperatures of around 1° at night! But it is rather dry in general so the weather feels totally different than e.g. in Switzerland.

My contract is due in May this year. We will see what happens next. I will keep you posted . There are different options but nothing is fix yet. Stay tuned on this channel to see where the trip goes... You'll be the first to know!

I am already in the mood that I miss Jordan when I am out and sometimes I cannot wait to get out of there as things get on my nerves ;-) But I sincerely love Jordan as it is a nice country and people are nice. Whatever happens, I will miss Jordan and all my colleagues and the expat friends here.

This year I will meet again with good friends who visited us during the year already. We decided to go together to Beirut again! So looking forward to! Cannot wait! Beirut is truly an exciting city. Full of controversy but beautiful and vibrant.

Take care wherever you are in this world. Big hug from Amman!
