After all traveling and lots of ongoing in the office I decided to fly to London to see my friend who is there for an LLM. I was not sure where to go and decided the day before I flew where to go. I was struggling between Amsterdam (never been), Vienna (lovely city and the closest to Amman where they speak German ;-) or Switzerland (just been there). So I deiced to go to London to meet my friend and have a good time. Actually I have two friends there but one lives in Cambridge which is like 1 hour away from London. I flew in on Friday and left on Thursday. I had such a great time and it's always the same... leaving is always hard... I hung out with my friend from London and then the other friend from Cambridge managed to come down to London which was great as it was since August I hadn't seen him. That was when we went on vacation to Scotland together with friends. So Friday night the London friend and I hung out in bars, had dinner and it was just great to catch up. Saturday we went out and had a sightseeing tour which was fun as I am so not used to walk anymore! He is very tall and one of his steps is like two of mine. We walked around and he showed me some of the highlights like Westminster Abbey, Big Ben, London Eye and lots of other things. In the evening we then went for a dinner where people from his colleague were meeting and I met all type of people from all over the world. The colleague from India was very impressed when I told him that I had been in his hometown ;-) (Hyderabad). Sunday then was another day out and we walked so much again. The city is just nice. It was a lovely day, blue sky (on/off of course ;-) so we walked down to the Thames, down to the Tower Bridge and from there over the bridge and back to where he lives. It was really great as it was a part of the city I had never seen before and the nice weather made it more than special. In the evening we went for dinner and called it a night in a pub called "The Ring" where they claimed that boxing was invented ;-). The day after my friend from London had to go back to work and I met with my other friend from Cambridge. Together we went to the British museum and I can tell you that that was one of the most interesting things I've done for a long time! Imagine to go to that museum with somebody who studied ancient history and shows you things from the area where I have been living! That was terrific and so interesting. A private guided tour :-) After the museum we walked down to the river, passed London Eye and headed towards the Buckingham palace as that was the only spot I hadn't seen yet. From there we headed back to a nice pub where we warmed up over a cup of coffee. Dinner was then at a great Irish Brewery where the three of us met for another great evening with steaks and drinks :-)
The next day I already had to head back to the airport and fly back to Amman...
I had a fantastic weekend and I did so enjoy meeting my friends and having such a good time! Risking to repeat myself... that's what I am missing most. Having my friends around. A.B. THANKS A LOT FOR THE HOSPITALITY AND THE GREAT TIME!! Looking forward seeing you soon! F.H. thanks a lot for coming down! Was great seeing you again! Had a great time! Hope to see you soon again!
