Car accident and other PIA

Yesterday I went to the gym and I decided to stop by the gas station to fill up my car. I stopped at the gas station and had to back up a bit as I was too far from the station. I backed and in the meantime an i***t squeezed in behind me! I just heard a crash... :-( luckily nothing happened and only the bumpers were hit but as my car belongs to the company I had to call the traffic patrol in order to get a report for the insurance company... luckily the guy I hit was a normal guy and he called the cops who showed up after some 10-15 minutes. I was expecting longer ;-) the police was extremely professional and everything was handled in a professional and quiet way (maybe because they are used to ;-) My and his bumper were hit. A classical fender bender. No biggie but a PIA... I was on the way home from the gym, still in my workout cloth as I shower at home, all sweaty (I am sure I started to smell... ;-) hungry, tired had to pee and just wanted to go home. The person I hit did speak only little English and in such a situation I  didn't want to rely on my Arabic knowledge, so I started to call my buddies. First person did not pick up. second busy, third picks up after 15 times ringing... but during the call all the other started to call back and once I hung up with the first the others called and asked what was happening. One offered to come immediately, the other did not want to hang up the phone and gave me all sort of advise on what do, the first person I called to spoke with the police officer, the other person, with me and back and forth... I was really moved by all the worries of my friends. They really worried and called back and forth to check in to see how I was and if they could help! One person I called, called other colleagues who live in the area I had the accident to see if they were around and could come to assist me! So in the meantime the police finished the report, all licenses and insurance # were changed and everything was clear when the ones who got called by the first colleague started to call me because they could not come immediately as they were buys but now they were ready to rush down to the place! I swear: I have NEVER EVER seen such a support in my life... this is one thing nobody in this world is better in. When you have Arab friends they really care. Regardless where they are or what they are doing. They drop everything and rush to help you... you have to love them...they are just great!!

All finished well and even when I was back home some colleagues called to see if everything ended well and was OK... I LOVE YOU GUYS!! Shukkran ikteer!!

Today I had another elevator story... most of the days in the morning the elevator is crowded. When it arrived at GF where usually most people get in, the story starts... some folks outside waiting to get in. Three people already inside. Door opens three outside. 1 woman, two men. Then it started: "Tfaddal!" ("After you!" in Arabic)... but all were saying that to each other! Until the door started to close and the lady took step and got in. door reopened... the second young man gets in as well. Once in, he realized that the third person was left out and apparently they seem to work together. So because the young man took the elevator, the older man had to wait for the next one... wallahi... the young man opened the door again and asked the older man to use the elevator and was about to step out and when the older man said no the young man stepped out again and waited with him for the next one!! Me inside and watching the "show"... priceless! You must love them...!

Btw: Today I received my work and residence permit! I can stay for another year in Jordan :-) Last summer to check in at Bayt Lelli ;-)

That all folks for the moment...

Don't take anything for granted... everything can change in the blink of an eye. May the souls of the poor kiddies in Doha who got killed by a fire in a childcare rest in peace...  http://www.daijiworld.com/news/news_disp.asp?n_id=139094
A big hug from Jordan. Take good care wherever you are. Miss you all...
