June 26 / Trip to Madaba and uninvited guests...

Yesterday we had a great evening with our French, Russian and US friends. We even met two Swiss people at the football bar. Nice folks. Today we slept in and around noon we headed to Madaba. The city is described as:" The small, easy going market town of Madaba, some 30 km southwest of Amman, is best known for the dozens of fine Byzantine mosaics preserved in its churches and museums." Madaba was first mentioned in the Old Testament having been conquered around the 9th century BC.

We strawled around but not go to see the mosaics (yet) as we will come back for sure. Madaba is a very nice Arabic city with a lot of traditional shops. Streets are full with shops selling all different things. Some highlights are the mosque and a cathedral (Greek orthodox) and many tiny little streets and corners that are really authentic.

Madaba is totally different fron the Amman we live in. We spent the afternoon there and after having had a nice walking tour around the town he drove back to Amman. We stopped by a shopping mall as we needed some things for the week. We went to a new mall, one we've never been before. Is very nice as it has some cool cinemas at the very top. After our shopping we went back home as we skipped lunch respectively we had only some fruits and water so we were hungry. We came back home and right between our entry door and our appartment we found an uninvited vistor who apparently seems to like our flat as we do... unfurtunately (for him) his visit at Lelli's place ended with a flight from the balcony! No worry, none of you will end up in the same way if you visit us ;-)

See the visitor below on a close up...

Take care wherever you are in this world and a big hug from Amman!
