Another half week over...time is rushing...unbelievable but we're here almost one month already! Routine is slowly but steadily sneeking in which is good in one way but on the other hand you don't want to do always the same things... in two weeks or so our shipping will arrive to the Port of Aqaba and should be in Amman some days later. We will then need to clear customs and move the stuff in... keep your fingers crossed!! We're close to getting an apartment! More on this topic soon... Again we learned some things... you drive on the street and the car in front of you puts the warning lights on and stops. Not somewhere...on the main road, OK?! He stops..one assumes he has a problem with his engine and puts the direction indicator to bypass him. If you drive a car here...don't do this! The person in the car stops in a main road (blocks his car totally!) breaks down from 50/70 km/hr, puts the warning lights on and let people crossing the street! Nice in a way...but strange if you are the car behind him and don't know that they do it this way... Another small but nice thing: you want to get the check after a meal? Show the palm of your hand to the waiter and do as you were writeing something with your index on it... you will get the check immediately ;-) Another one: you want to show that you want a piece of paper or somebody gave you a paper? Stretch your arm with the hand open (upwards) and with the other hand you run smoothly over the forearm (don't do it in Italy ;-) could be misunderstood...! You wanna say "No"? Raise your eyebrows! It's enough. You wanna stress it? Raise your eyebrows and make "TZZZ" noise with your tongue. Everybody will understand ;-)
I am still trying to learn every day one word in Arabic... so far I'm on track... not that bad. I already speak some words in Arabic and sometime I surprise my colleagues at work :-) OK, that all for today. Take care wherever you are in this world and send us your comments or e-mails. You would not believe how nice it is to receive a message from back home! By the way: in one of the last blogs I said that the UK was playing in World Championship... of course this is wrong! It was England of course... (Thanks N.C. for the hint ;-)).
Big hug to all from Amman!
