Another weekend...
Weekend is
almostr over and as usual it rushed while the week is dragging and does not
seem to want to come to an end ;-) That’s my interpretation of relativity of
time ;-) We met with some new friends from the US on Thursday evening. They
just arrived in Jordan and we are trying to show them around and make their
life easier in a way that we take them to places they don’t know like
restaurants and lounges (not that those places would be the only ones we know
;-)
So we went
to a place we bring almost all our friends who come to see us here. The place
is called Bayt Shokair (House of the Shokairs). they serve great Lebanese food and the scenerie is just awesome... it is located downtown and you see a hill with all the houses, mosques, churches and all the streets going up the hill. Especially at night it is really nice to go there as you see all the lights and usually we manage to hear the last prayer which starts from one mosque and echoes down through the valley... it is really nice. So far everybody was really happy to have been there ;-) The waiter already knows us and we adress each other as "Habibi!" ;-) (go and check online if you want to know what it means ;-)
After the more then rich and more than delicious supper, we decided to drive to another place to have a drink. Many places do not have a licence and thus, are not allowed to serve alcoholic beverages. We headed to a new place called "Agave". Knowing what the plant is used to produced we were really positive to get a drink at the bar ;-) unfortunately the place was so packed thathey did not even let us in! Usually it is not a problem if you are an expat and the ration male/female is 4:2 as it was on Thursday evening... but it was just full! Unbelieavable...next time I have to book... so we headed to the next place to hang uot. We decided to go to the Grand Hyatt Tewrrace which is a lovely place. A bit expensive (but all international hotels are...) but very nice and relaxed. is a typical outside lounge with lounge music, burning torches and big lounges. It's just nice to hang out there and enjoy the warm nights. We finished at around midnight and headed back home as all were a bit tired. Our friends from the US and I work, the others (auntie and cousine) just came back from a trip to Petra and a sleep over in Wadi Rum. So all were a bit tired...
Next day we called for an easy, laid back, nothing to do day at the club! We slept in, woke up at 0830 and were at the club at around 10. Out two guests took a canvas chair and Katja and I headed for the gym. Believe it or not but I am getting more and more friend with physical activities. i am usually working out 3-4 times a week. One gym is rather posh (the one at the club) and the other one is a real local ne where I am the ONLY non Arab ;-) the small not-posh gym is much more fun than the posh one!
After the gym Katja and I hung out with our friends at the pool and enjoyed the sun and heat. It was a bit too hot for me as it reached almostr 40° and I was sweating... The evening then was just gorgeous... temperatures of around 25+ at night, no wind on the balcony. Perfect weather for BBQ, sitting on the balcony, chatting and just enjoying the moment...
Sunday then was for me another relaxed day. We got up really late and the ladies went to see the Royal car Musem next door. Is a relly great museeum even if you don't really like cars as it is just nicely done. It shows all the cars that are linked in a way or another to the history of the King and his country. Very nice...
I hung out home and didn't really do a lot... but this Saturdays was one of those days... I was not in a mood for nothing... I just hung out while they were out and just went out to Virgin Megastore to see if there was something I could buy with my vouchers I got for my birthday. They burn a whole in my pocket ;-) But I was not at all in the mood and did not buy anything. They came back from their "toure" and we had a nice, Mexican supper with wraps and everything what you need ;-)
That was more or less my weekend... nothing really exciting but fun in a way :-)
This goes out to a friend who is just about moving abroad: JP: All the best for your journey! Take care and have fun! That's the most important thing! I am already waiting for your blog ;-) we started already before we left ;-) We keep in touch buddy, all the best!
