New Year already started ;-) First of all I would like to wish you all the best for this year. Health, and joy! We first planned to do something very simple at our place, then we heard about a very cool party in Amman, but unfortunately they already sold out so we decided to go back to plan a). Upfront: it was fantastic. We invited a copule to our place where we had BBQ and Raclette cooked on a small grill on the table (for those who speak German: Tischgrill). Delicious startes and a kick a** desert (fruits in sweet syrup flambé in Kirsch with ice cream :-) made the evening memorable :-) But the best was of course the company. We had such a good time! he is the country manager of a big airline company. They moved to Amman more or less at the same time (she moved a bit later). We enjoyed our dinner, were chatting around and had so much fun that we almost missed to open the bottle on time ;-)
New years eve was remarkably quiet. Maybe because we had "bad" weather. Actually bad weather is good weather here... finally we got a continuous rain that lasted two/three days. Not floods like last time but just a nice shower. In the evening then we had heavy fog, was like living in a cloud! We could hardly see our neighbour's house which is some 20 meters away. It was kind of spookey as you could see the pale light of the street-light through the fog... (Have you ever seen the movie "The Fog"? ;-)
We are already planning next year's visits and I just sent out an e-mail to friends and we realized that we are already almot full booked! Can you immagine? we have people staying here starting March trough November! Not everyday as we plan time slots in between (not that we don't like you but sometime some privacy is nice to have ;-) So if you are planning to come and drop by: hurry up! Casa Lelli almost fully booked! Crazy... seems we have lots of friends ;-)
One thing seems to be the same worldwide...the day of a big holiday 8such as New Year) ALL the shops, especially grocery are packed!!! we had traffic jams (!) as so many people wanted to go to the big shopping malls and the queue was so long that it blocked the main road and provoked a "traffic melt down"! Crazy... as if there was no food the next day ;-)
Oh I almost forgot to mention: we finally got our dryer! It took only 5 month... we are still struggeling getting a shower wall in one of our bathrooms...they told us when we moved in, "Maa mushkeleh, bukrah in Sh'Allah!" (No problem, tomorrow so God will!) Is now six month ago... ;-)
Today, first day of the new year... easy, chill out day. hanging out, blogging, chatting with friends, sending sms, watching TV and eating yesterday's left overs ;-)
I wish you all a HAPPY NEW YEAR, all the best to you and your families. Katja and I hope to see you soon somewhere in this world. We miss you all... Take good care of yourself. A big hug from Amman!
