Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

I was in Riyadh lately which is the capital of KSA (Kingdom of Saudi Arabia). KSA is different than Jordan and all other countries I've seen so far. Actually I never counted all the countries I've been (must be around 30...). It is very impressive that what they do, they do it just perfect. All the shopping malls, traffic, national museum and many other things I've seen were just impressive as they were really nice and jsut impressive. The national museum is really nice and done in a very interesting way. It is very big but also very attractive. In general what hit me is how big Riyadh is! I had the impression it is just "endless"! You drive and drive and drive and drive....and you still are in Riyadh!! The most impressive buildings are the Kingdom Tower and the Al-Faysaliah Tower. Check them out:

The Al-Faisahl Tower has a Cigar Lounge in the Globe at the top of the building and the Kingdom Tower is empty at the top, not the building itself, inside the "V" there is nothing! It is just impressive at night. Looks fantastic. At the bottom there is a shopping mall which is just...wow... really big and very nice.

Another thing that is being built is thePrincess Nora bint Abdulrahman University, a College for 50.000 (!) women only! The campus is so big that they have an own monorail on campus!!! In my university we did not even had a bus... ;-) As I said, In Saudi many things are different but everything is bigger ;-)

Before I went to Riyadh I checked the weather forecast and it was saying that it would be chilly and rainy. I couldn't believe it so I started to Riyadh without my coat. Believe me I better should have! It was cold and it rained on the second day! Again, I was not in Iceland, I was in Saudi Arabia!! It really rained and a chilly wind was blowing! It lasted some 30 minutes and stopped. After it stopped the sun came out again and the temperature was just gorgeous... I can only immagine how hot it must be in summer...

All in all it was a really interesting trip and very interesting. Another great experience :-)

Take care wherever you are in this world! Big hug from Amman!
